Declare your love—in any language!

The Polyglot is delighted to partner with the Art Gallery of Alberta to host a multilingual poetry open mic in tandem with the installation of August Klintberg’s Love Empire on the terrace of the AGA.

Whether you wish to read or simply listen, immerse yourself in an evening filled with passione, pyar, dor, and saudade. Music by local DJ Mr. Kou.

About the artwork

Consisting of a barebones stage, a basic PA system and a secret compartment, Love Empire creates a space for public proclamations of love, admiration, passion and emotion. This interactive installation was originally commissioned as part of the Alberta Biennial of Contemporary Art 2005 and later acquired by the National Gallery of Canada in 2007. For this special presentation on our Terrace, August Klintberg reimagines this work through a new iteration coinciding with the AGA’s 100th-anniversary celebrations.
